LO4: Audience feedback through a screen test

When gathering feedback for our short film we created a questionnaire using Survey Monkey, this is a platform that people can submit answers to your questions and then the answers get emailed to the creator of the  questionnaire. Using the feedback which we got we will the use this to add and strengthen the quality of the film using the primary source of feedback from the screen test which we carried out.

In the editing of the short film we will need to improve the flow of the film, so it looks more professional and is smooth, as in some parts of the film there is parts where the dialouge then jumps to a sudden silence in the mirror scene.

I will also need to either refill or edit the some parts of the sounds in the film. As part of the feedback some of the audio wasn't clear therefore some of the script isn't clear for the audience for understand, therefore I will enhance the audio, to make the film more professional and so the sound is clear. A part in the film the audio will be changed is the part where the waterfall is shown as it makes the film seem more that it was created by students and doesn't seem professional as the sound editing increases on that specific scene, compared to the rest of the scenes.

With the feedback given the changes which will be made now on the film I will make different editing changes such as adding extra footage to make sure that my story line is easy to understand and elaborate on different parts so it makes sense to the andience. The footage which our group will add is where the main male character is walking past his 'dream girl' in the street, before showing the imagination of the date with the girl, there will be a part when he looks up to the sky, which shows our audience that it is a dream. This means the editing won't just jump to a random scene and stop the audience being confused.

Some of the feedback which we gathered is that needs to be changed is the jump cuts, as these edits aren't meant to be there, therefore will be taken out or will run smoothly into the next scene, which will improve the quality of our final product. a few of the techniques in the editing will be chanced as there is some overused sound and special effects in certain parts of the film.

From the feedback I will ensure to change the title of the short film so it is more visible and accessible for everyone to read. The credits at the end need to be changed to create a professional feel and so they are easy to follow. This will be amended by changing the font types and the time placements by using different editing effects.

A strength of the film is that there are strong editing skills contained such as the mirror scene showing a two way conversation with the main character. The film also connotes genre through the debate he has with himself showing that it normal to have different thoughts and be torn with what to do about specific situations.
